WURTH-BH is a continuation of the LIBERTY SEGUROS-WURTH-BH team.

The team is led by sports director Manolo Saiz.

In the period between the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France, team manager Manolo Saiz came under fire, all in connection with an investigation by doctor Fuentes who supplied many riders with EPO.

Saiz was a good friend of Fuentes and also some riders of Liberty Seguros appeared on a list of Fuentes. LIBERTY SEGUROS therefore withdrew as a sponsor.

In the Tour of Switzerland and also in the Pro-tour team time trial in Eindhoven, they rode in shirts with WURTH-BH. Just before the start of the Tour de France, the Kazakh ASTANA took over the team.

The ASTANA team was already present in Strasbourg before the start of the TOUR DE FRANCE when on Friday the names in the FUENTES scandal were announced: Jan Ullrich, Ivan Basso, Francisco Mancebo, Oscar Sevilla and the ASTANA riders Joseba Beloki, Allan Davis, Sergio Paulinho, Isidro Nozal and Alberto Contador. In the end, the ASTANA team was left with 4 riders to start in the TOUR DE FRANCE. According to the regulations, it was no longer allowed to field new riders and also 4 riders were too few to start in the Tour. So the 4 remaining riders, including Tour favorite Alexandre Vinokourov, were not allowed to start.
