In 1984 Frits Pirard and Johan van der Velde rode for the Italian METAUROMOBILI PLOEG.

This team did not participate in the Tour of the Netherlands, but Pirard & Van der Velde did ride the Tour of the Netherlands in a so-called MIXED team with Dutch riders from foreign teams.

In order to get a uniform jersey, these jerseys were designed with the name of the team the rider was riding for. Good idea, but the jersey was rejected by the UCI, so everyone rode in their own team jersey.
