In the spring of 2004, the Dutch branch of SPAARSELECT went bankrupt.

As a result, the skating team, including Olympic champion Gianni Romme, is disbanded.

Not much later in the summer of 2004, the curtain fell for the Belgian branch of SPAARSELECT, as well as the SPAARSELECT cyclocross team.

On August 8 of that year, a Summer Cross was organized for the first time at the Zolder circuit.

The SPAARSELECT riders appear there in a black outfit, world champion Bart Wellens rides in his SPAARSELECT rainbow outfit, but the SPAARSELECT sponsor names are covered with black tape.

A sad end for the successful SPAARSELECT cyclocross team. Not much later, Fidea takes over the sponsorship.
