MERCURY/VIATEL rides with 2 different shirts!!

In American races they wear this shirt.

After some initial problems, the team got back on the road and, given the number of 82 victories, it was very successful.

But when sponsor VIATEL went bankrupt in June 2001, they could no longer pay the riders.

Mid September Peter van Petegem transferred to the Belgian Collstrop-Palmans team, and as of October 2 the team was suspended by the UCI and the riders were no longer allowed to participate in races. Sad end of a very successful team.
