TELEVIZIER-BATAVUS: The Dutch Top Cycling Team from the Sixties
TELEVIZIER-BATAVUS started in 1961 as a small cycling team with Televizier as sponsor, also in 1964 former cyclist Kees Pellenaars became team leader, he developed the team into a successful and very professional cycling team.

In 1966 and 1967, the Pellenaars team rode under the name TELEVIZIER-BATAVUS, becoming one of the most successful Dutch teams in professional cycling. The team was founded in 1966 as a joint venture between the Dutch television guide Televizier and the Dutch bicycle manufacturer Batavus.
The team consisted of a number of promising young riders such as sprint cannon Gerben Karstens, Jos Van Der Vleuten, Cees Haast, Henk Nijdam and Jo de Roo. The team quickly became one of the strongest teams in the peloton and won several important races, including the Tour of the Netherlands and the Tour of Belgium. In 1966 the team was also strongly present in the Tour de France and in 1967 in the Vuelta.

The success of TELEVIZIER-BATAVUS was not only due to individual achievements. The team was also known for its strong and close-knit teamwork, with riders helping each other to win. The team had a strong sprint train, which enabled Karstens to achieve many victories.
